Christ story remind me of our travel with fellow forester to other countries; everywhere we hunt for Vietnamese or Chinese restaurant to kill a bow of rice. It's not for the taste but a remedy for our homesick. The only exception was when we went to a remote district of Mexico where local having breakfast of Corona, tequila and caterpillar worm taco, nobody asking for rice that time. It was like we find our new home.
Haha, brilliant. Worm tacos! I guess for anyone used to eating 'Ruoi' it's no problem to adapt.
RE: Rice, I once read an academic paper about the Vietnamese who fought in World War One. Contrary top popular belief, they were mainly volunteers (many enticed to join as they would get a pension, and even if they died, the family would receive it), and they wrote home to their families with updates. Early on in the war, one reassured his family back home they had plenty of rice and fresh food. The only thing they were missing was 'nuoc mam' :)))
